Monday Montage 186

And just like that another weekend has come to a close.  They go by soooo fast.  Mine was pretty low key.  Some errand running, March Madness and a little crafting.  We had quite a bit of rain/snow this weekend, so it was the perfect time to stay inside (not like we haven't been doing that already)

I just can't leave those pierced flowers alone - there are so many combos and color choices.

Welcome to the Monday Montage Blog Hop.  This group of crafters always has some great ideas to share.  Make sure you don't miss a blog by clicking the NEXT button at the end of this post.

Signs of spring are starting to come out of the ground and the Forsythia is in full color - love the yellow. It won't be long until we see crocus, tulips, daffodils, hyacinths and lilacs.  The idea of this has inspired the colors and layout for the card.
Stamps - Many Messages
Ink - Black
Paper - Crumb Cake, Whisper White, Calypso Coral, Petal Pink, Granny Apple Green
Accessories - Pierced Blooms dies,  Messages Dies, Pearls, Stitched with Whimsy dies

Monday Montage 185

Welcome to the Monday Montage Blog Hop.  Can you Feel it?   Spring is on its way!  And so is Daylight Savings time - EEP!  what is it about that one hour?

The inspiration for this card came from another stamp company.  I saw it and knew that I wanted to try it with our pierced flower dies. This card totally reminds me of a bag full of Easter M&M Almonds.  So springy and happy.  The colors definitely stand out against the black background.  This format is slimline which makes a great space to place the flowers and leaves.  The sentiment fits perfectly.
Stamps - Happy Thoughts
Ink - Versamark
Paper - Basic Black, Flirty Flamingo, Cool Caribbean, Balmy Blue, Highland Heather, Pear Pizzazz, Soft Seafoam, Vellum
Accessories - Pierced Blooms Dies, White Embossing powder, pearl basic jewels.

We Create Blog Hop - Cut it out!

Happy March.  It may be cold, but the sun is out longer and you feel the promise of Spring.  We were out and about last night at 5:30 and the sun was still visible above the horizon.

Welcome to the We Create Blog Hop.

The challenge was to create using punches die cuts, hand cuts etc.  This was easy as I use these tools ALL the time.  The only thing that made it hard was choosing a layout and stamp set.  Very often Stampin Up creates a suite which includes stamps, dies, paper, and accessories.  This is great, but sometimes we get stuck in a color combo rut and the only samples you see are with the same colors.  I stepped out and used a different combo that what was included in the suite.  I was unsure about the purple, But I love it!

Stamps - Snailed It
Ink - Black
Paper - Basic White, So Saffron, Gorgeous Grape, Seafoam, Seaside Spray, Real Red
Accessories - Many Marvelous Markers, Stitched Be Mine Dies, Snail Dies

Headlines for the week...
Celebrated Boy Crush's Bday - We cook good together
Fresh Banana Muffins straight from the Oven  Mmmm
Tried Melon Mt Dew  -  If only it came in diet
Late nite snacks from Thirst - pretzel bites and a McDreamy
Hair Cut and color - always good for Morale

Monday Montage 184

I think "Winter" has been hibernating until this last month and decided to dump 3 months worth of precipitation and cold all in the month of February.  Crazy enough, we still don't have enough snow pack in our mountains.  I know winter isn't over, but I know once March hits Spring is on its way.  The Forsythia comes out, the crocus and daffodils start poking their little heads out of the ground and the temperature warms up.

I opted for  a Cherry Blossom stamp being that I have spring on the brain - I attempted the white embossing and the inside of the flowers are very sparkly with wink of stella, but I just didn't get the pop I was looking for so.....

I attempted it in black.  I like both of them, but the black is definitely more striking.  They always look better in person.

Stamps - Forever Blossoms, Happy Thoughts
Ink - Versamark
Paper - Basic White, Seaside Spray, Rococo Rose, Petal Pink, Soft Seafoam
Accessories - Black and white embossing powder, Gold pearls, White pearls, Flowers for Every Season Ribbon Combo Pack, Snail Mail Twine Combo Pack

Monday Montage 183

Welcome to the Monday Montage Blog Hop !!

Feeling slightly jealous! I have friends that have been to Walt Disney World, San Diego, Las Vegas, and  Maui and here I sit at my computer just dreaming of any of those destinations.  Its all about timing.  When my boy crush gets well enough, we can definitely go places.

My card features the Perennial Petals set from the Jan-Jun 2021 Mini Catalog.  It is such a fun whimsical set.  The only thing I wish is that the Happy word in the stamp set had a matching die.  It's not hard to cut out, but would be better with a die.

Stamps - Pretty Perennials, Hardwood Background
Ink - Flirty Flamingo, Blushing Bride, Real Red, Daffodil Delight, Old Olive, Pear Pizzazz, Black, Cinnamon Cider, Blackberry Bliss
Paper - Whisper White, Basic Black
Accessories - Many Messages Dies, Perennial petals dies

We Create - Whateves

January has flown by with lots of hours logged for work, not enough exercise, not enough snow for Utah, and an extreme need for a vacation.  What has yours looked like?

I created this card with my cousin in mind.  His son was taken from this life from early onset Alzheimer's.  One thing you learn at some point is that Life is Not Fair.    I love the colors and how this card turned out.  Going back to the Forever Greenery DSP,  the colors together are just beautiful. The butterflies were inked and blended with sponge daubers and  touched up with wink of stella to give them a little shimmer.  The sentiment fit perfectly from the Sale A Bration set.

Stamps - Butterfly Gala, Heal Your Heart
Ink - Pretty Peacock, Pool Party, Soft Sea Foam
Paper - Basic White, Pretty Peacock,  Forever Greenery DSP
Accessories - Pretty Peacock Reversible Ribbon, Butterfly Duet Punch, sponge daubers, Holiday Rhinestone Jewels, Wink of Stella, Layering Oval dies

I broke a fingernail, it is so short - below the quick.  It hurts. (insert pouty face)  Don't you hate when that happens?  I have wrapped it in some first aid tape to keep the nail that is left from catching on things.

Headlines for the week
The Light things Surpass the Dark Things
Sleeping in is good for the soul
Tried New Recipe - Almond Raspberry tarts
Birthdays are fun to celebrate - even when they are not their own
I love my DOG!
Boy Crush is able to walk the dog

Monday Montage 182

January is on its way out and we finally have a skiff of snow on the ground. Valentine decor is up (small amount compared to Christmas) and the Christmas stuff finally got put away.  I always wished for a cute little family to have dinners and special valentine traditions with.  It is just boy crush and I and he isn't into that kind of thing too much.  Maybe this year I will make it extra special - planning gear has kicked in :)

Welcome to the Monday Montage Blog Hop.  I hope you stick around and find a project that inspires you or at least makes you smile.

I have been wanting to give the slimline style cards a go.  That is a lot of card real-estate to cover and can be intimidating. I chose to use the Darling Donkey Set from Sale a Bration.  I couldn't choose just one image, so this format allowed me to use them all.

There are so many uses for these stubborn but darling creatures featured in the stamp.  I've ridden a donkey before, his name was Cabbot.  He definitely had his stubborn streak and wasn't afraid to share it with you.  Hahaha  The kicking donkey in the set is more his style.

This is one of those cards, where I used "all the things", but why not if you have them.

Stamps - Darling Donkey, Punch Party, So Sentimental
Ink - Black, Pear Pizzazz, Pool Party, Balmy Blue, Flirty Flamingo, Smoky Slate, Basic Gray
Paper - Thick Cardstock, Berry Delightful DSP, Basic White, Real Red, Flirty Flamingo
Accessories - Layers Squares dies, Stitched Shapes dies, Stitched So Sweetly dies, Stitched Be Mine dies, Resin Hearts, Banners Pick a Punch, Blending Brushes, Blending Pens, Wink of Stella, Snail Mail Twine

Here is the inside.....I attempted to make it look like the donkey was kicking the hearts.  Just think about all the things this stubborn little donkey could be kicking your way!!!

I continue to use my word Prevail as I encounter the challenges that come my way.  I rely a lot on prayers and hope.  It is easy to let social media and news channels take away my peace of mind.  I shake my head a lot and try to refocus on things that I can change and things that make me happy.

My headlines for the last week.

1.  Color Street nail strips turn a blah manicure into an Amazing manicure
2.  Fresh Air clears the mind and provides clarity
3.  Card Making/Crafting provides creative outlet for stress
4.  Student of Artisan bread making uses a Biga to broaden bread making skills
5.  Boy Crush makes huge strides in the therapy pool
6.  Flat Tire repaired for free -
7.  Sometimes Holidays from work are great excuses to have "do nothing" days
