Monday Montage 247 - Gift of Giving

I am so glad there are Octobers, I only wished they lasted longer.  This Fall has been picture perfect.  Saturday afternoon games at Rice Eccles Stadium, stunning leaves, time spent with family, out of country visitors, Chili Verde, Scones, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints General Conference, and temperate temperatures.

Welcome to the Monday Montage blog hop.  I caved and pulled out a Christmas stamp set.  The gift of giving stamp set is fun, different and a great set for coloring.

I opted to do some paper piecing with the mug.  I masked off the sentiment, stamped the image on the Shining Christmas DSP and then heat embossed the image.  Let me just say, because of the shiny metallic finish, this paper does not lend itself to taking ink or heat embossing.  If you are not careful, the embossing flakes off.

My next challenge was how do i color marshmallows?  I remember seeing the bags of stay puff red and green marshmallows - which translates into a light pink and green.  What a perfect addition to a holiday mug of cocoa.

To make the tag, cut a small square out of a piece of paper to mask off the mug and stamped the sentiment on red.  I cut it out with a die from Autumn Leaves.

Stamps - Gift of Giving
Ink - Markers and Blends, Black
Paper - Real Red, Mossy Meadow, White, Shining Christmas DSP (OE)
Accessories - Real Red and Garden Green ribbon combo, Blooming Pearls, Basic 3D embossing folders (OE), Autumn Leaf Dies, black embossing powder

Monday Montage 246 - Gorgeous Garden

I think I would like this Fall season to last a long time.  It has been so pretty, and the weather has been perfect with a day of rain here or there.  We haven't had a chance to take our annual drive up the canyon, but I have enjoyed the colors from afar.

You have arrived at another Monday Montage Hop - with some amazingly talented craters.  Stick with us and be prepared to be inspired!

I saw this idea done by Flowerbug Inkspot - LeAnn
Greff and knew I needed to try and recreate the fall like colors on the gorgeous garden dies.  I took a piece of 5.5 x 4.25 vanilla cardstock and some fall colored ink and went to town with my blending brushes.  Once the cardstock was completely colored I used the die and cut out the leaf pattern.  It's quick and looks so pretty.

I added letters, and some cut out leaves with the gold and copper
DSP.  Splattered the image after it was all assembled and added a few dots.

Stamps - Autumn Leaves
Ink - Cherry Cobbler, Copper Canyon, Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie, Wild Wheat, Cajun Craze
Paper - Vanilla, Cajun Craze, Oxidized Copper DSP, Distressed Gold DSP, Tartan Foil DSP
Accessories, Autumn Leaves Dies, Alphabet A La Mode dies, Linen thread, 2023-2025 in color adhesive dots, Many Marvelous markers

We Create - Haunts and Harvests - Abundant Beauty Masks

As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, we are assigned members in our congregation to befriend and look out for.  At this beginning of this year, I committed to send a handmade card with a special message each month.  It was one way I found that I could show my love to them.  I don't know how much it is appreciated, but I always learn from the process.  I mean...come on, who doesn't love to get a beautiful card in the mail?

Welcome to the We Create Blog Hop. The wild yellow sunflower is ever a symbol of late Summer and Fall where I live. A sign of gardens and fruit trees in full harvest.
This month I have chosen to share the card I made for the September message.  This time of year, I love that these "weed" flowers that dot so many road sides and freeway on and off ramps in our area.

The Abundant Beauty Masks (I like to call them stencils) in the seasonal mini Stampin' Up catalog lend themselves to create a richly color blend of several yellows/oranges/brown inks to create a beautiful sunflower.  I also love the blue sky/yellow flower contrast.  I created that on this card with another mask from the set with a houndstooth pattern.

Just imagine the possibilities and colors that can be put together.  It also comes with a leaves and snowflake background.

If you haven't invested in the blending brushes, it makes this so easy.  I started with the lightest yellow around the outside.  Then all the other colors were started and the center of the flower and blended out.  The background was a cinch and I love the variation in the intensity of the color - almost like a denim jean.

Stamps - Charming Sentiments
Ink - Lemon Lolly, Crushed Curry, Pumpkin Pie, Pecan Pie, Early Espresso, Granny Apple Green, Garden Green, Moonlight Mist.
Paper - Moonlight Mist, Daffodil Delight, White
