Monday Montage 231 - Playing in the Rain

I might be a little anxious for spring.  This little bunny and this stamp set embodies all the things spring.  Daisies, kites, circles, cute little animals - what is not there to put a smile on someone's face.  Circles and little critters seems to be a theme for me.

I think they call this the Peek a boo circle card.  The front flap is trimmed down by an inch and a circle is cut out to reveal the image adhered to the base.  The bunny is from the Rain or Shine DSP

The Paper is from Sale a Bration  Dandy Designs - So fun!  I love the colors it pulls from.

Here is a shot of the inside - you can see the kite string with the bows hanging form the cut out -

Stamps - Playing in the Rain, Charming Sentiments
Ink - Bermuda Bay
Paper - White, Cool Caribbean, Dandy Delight DSP, Rain or Shine DSP, Country Gingham DSP
Accessories - Layering Circle Dies, Loose Daisy Embellishments, Playing in the Rain Dies

I love three day weekends!  I attempted homemade sourdough bagels which turned out pretty darn good for the first try.  Bagels and Lox for two meals...YUM!  Not my pic, but they looked exactly like this!

Image and recipe from Little Spoon Farms

We attended a concert featuring the Utah Symphony and the Tabernacle Choir.  They performed Mendelsohn's Elijah which is such a beautiful Oratorio.  Thierry Fischer is an amazing conductor, I had forgotten how amazing live classical music is - it brought me to tears.

I got some crafting time in - two cards and hoping to get some clean up in the crafting room/office done.

Stamping With Friends - Favorite Jan-Jun Catalog - Queen Bee

How can you choose a favorite?  There are so many wonderful stamp sets, dies, papers, embelishment.....I love them all!!  Welcome to the Stamping With Friends Blog Hop.
This is one of the first stamp sets and dies I had to get my hands on.  I love that the die set provides so many extras and accent the main images in the stamps set.  The branches, little bees, flower and honey comb are perfect pairings.

The Designer Series Paper Dainty Blossoms - is perfect to highlight my queen bee, with a few layers, ribbon and gold butterflies.  For some reason the phot doesn't show the saturated colors like seeing it up close in person.  I embossed the Bee and colored it with our marvelous markers I love how it turned out (is that ok to say???)

Stamps - Queen Bee, Beautifully Happy
Ink - Black,
Paper - Dainty Flowers, White, Polished Pink
Accessories - Many Marvelous Markers, Oval Punch, Oval layering dies (retired) Gold embossing powder, clear embossing powder, In-color metalic ribbon (Parakeet Party), brushed gold butterflies.

Monday Montage 230 - Country Bouquet

Where do the weekends go??? Brunch with Friends on Saturday morning, Sourdough bread making, and a Lord of the Rings Marathon.  Church on Sunday,  bake the bread, make cards, and then the weekend is gone.  There may have been a few chores interspersed like laundry and dishes that always need doing.

I purchased the Country Bouquet stamp set and punch after it was demo'd at Stampin UP Onstage.  Couldn't wait to play with it.  I finally sat down to play with it and all I could think of is "why did I buy that?"  It looks like a stamp set to make cute country decor from the 80"s.  What I do like about it is that it is a set that can be used year round, not just for Valentines Day. Also all the stamps and sentiments don't have to be used all together.

The mini slimline card lent itself to the offset stacking hearts.  I love all the brightly colored hearts and the distinctive look of the hearts.

I wanted to make a cute little treat box to accompany the card and fill with these yummy peach gummy hearts sold by a cute little kitchen supply store here. I left the box opening uncovered (the back of the box) and decorated the other side.  Make it cute and the candy still accessible (great idea Bree)

Stamp - Country Bouquet
Ink - Sweet Sorbet, Pale Papaya, Fresh Freesia, Parakeet Party, Cool Caribbean, Black
Paper - Basic White
Accessories - Milky Dots, Country Bouquet Punch, Stylish Shapes Dies, Stripes and Splatters embossing folder, envelope boxes, Basic Twine, Real Red Ribbon, small circle punch.

Next on the Hop is Dani - you won't want to miss out!

We Create - Sale A Bration - Thanks A Bunch

Oh my goodness, I made it through January.  I didn't float away, I have a little bit of sanity left and I am not completely frozen solid. February holds lots of fun things ahead.  I look forward to them.

What do you do with a bunch of carrots and why would you put them on a card.  I got them as a bonus for ordering $50 worth of product.  I have seen so many fun things done with them that I actually wanted to pull the stamp set out and attempt to play.

Kind of fun - the two step stamp makes it so easy to create the shading on the carrots.  I used two different greens on the leaves and I actually really like how it turned out.

  • Stamps - Thanks a Bunch - Sale A Bration
  • Ink - Mango Melody, Pumpkin Pie, Granny Apple Green, Garden Green,
  • Paper - basic White
  • Accessories - Linen Thread, Framed Florets, Tailor Made Tags, Thank you embossing folder (retired)
