On Labor Day Monday, I took the day to spend with Emillee to play with some toys.  She designs for a local wood craft store and I took advantage of her amazing talent and her deep stash of goodies.

Stamp Club Day

Today I met with my stamping group to work on some new card ideas.  This is what they worked on today.  
First question is...Who sends halloween cards?  Um...me!  I am trying to help out our USPS as best as I can.  And, who wouldn't want to get one of these in the mail.  If they don't make it to the mail box...they make great Halloween decorations.

Once again, I find myself apologizing for the blurry bad photos.  Best I can do, with our poor lighting and inexpensive camera.

Wicked Cool
This is a Center Step Fold Card - Instructions here  Looks difficult, but it turns out quite easily and very fun to do.  Can't wait to do more.

  Boo -
I wanted to showcase a new sizzix die in our holiday catalog.  The peekaboo frames are so cute especially when the ghost is coming out of the frame.  The owl turned ghost was not my idea, but clever none the less.

Fancy Flower

This stamp caught my eye immediately when I viewed the new catalog.  Had to have it!  This designer paper - Well Worn - is one of my favorites.  Gives any project a classy look. (another project to come showcasing the paper)

I know that these cards have a lot of accessories and tools used to complete them.  One thing I always tell my customers is find a great stamp set and then...shop from the back of the catalog.  All the punches, embossing tools, ribbons, glitters, etc. are located there and that is what takes your card over the top.

• Washing Machine Broken - needs a new part
• Sinus Infection - feel like crap.  I have lost complete faith in the medical field.
• Family Birthday Party  HB Mom!
• Stamp Club on Saturday
• Ute Football on Saturday VS USC.  A little anxious, but excited - breaking new ground!
• House chores need to be done
• Ralph got a bunch of canning done and peach orange jam made.  Wowzer! 
• Plan to go to state fair - not sure when, but it starts today.
• Need to pick a book up at the library for book group - Russian Winter
• Just want to sit in a hot tub and watch a good chick flick.
• Nothing that a bowl of rocky road tillamook ice cream can't fix - at least for the moment

A Disciples Journey

Zucchini Noodles

If you planted zucchini this year in your garden, I imagine, if yours is producing anything like ours you have a lot.  We like it cooked a lot of different ways - bread, cake, savory pies, fries, cut up in tomato veggie sauce, pancakes, and even raw on a vegetable plate.  We tried a new way tonight and I think it was a success.

While mom was here we went to the Sunflower market for a few produce items and they had a promotional magazine at the check out.  I picked it up and saw a recipe for zucchini noodles with tomato sauce.  Although none of the ingredients were cooked in the recipe in the magazine, we thought we would give it a try and put our own spin on it.

I have a tool called a julienne peeler.  You can buy them at any place that stocks a good variety of kitchen tools. We used the peeler on the zuchinni to make thin long strips - like noodles.   If you buy this tool, you will find yourself using it more than you think.  It is great for julienning veggies for soup and salads.  Even potatoes!

Ralph made a sauce with some of our home grown roma tomatoes, onions, garlic and a few seasonings all sauteed together.  We didn't cook the zucchini because we didn't want it too mushy.  When we were ready to eat we poored the hot sauce over the zuchinni noodles.  We grated a bit of parmesan cheese to go on top.  Tasty!

The noodles almost immediately started to expell their liquid, which we knew would happen.  Thankfully not enough to make the sauce to watery.   You could probably salt the raw zucchini noodles and let them drain the excess liquid, rinse them and then poor the sauce over.  Because of the warm sauce the noodles weren't completely raw when we sat down to eat.  I would describe them as al dente.  This dish along with some home made breadsticks makes for a great meal and super healthy too!  You could add meat to the sauce if you so choose. We will definitely make this again -
