Time Passes Too Quickly

Everyday seems to be crammed with something.
The last two weeks have been full and fun.
I had a b-day.  I had lots of well wishes and fun goodies.  Some of which are still to come.

Gary and Marlene sent me this...  I have worn this every chance I get.

Gary's b-day is just a few days after mine.   Here is the card that was mailed to him.  I have been waiting to post this until he got it.  I don't know what is up with the P.O. but it took 5 days what normally takes 3.   Layout is from Judy Designs

This week I actually attended a RS evening meeting.  It was titled cards and cupcakes.  I was asked to bring a dozen cupcakes (I don't usually make these).  I think it was to just get me to come.  We made invites to give to the inactive women for the RS Potluck dinner called Pantry to Platter.    Not too many came, but we had a good time.  One of the ladies brought these great banana coconut cupcakes with 7 minute frosting.  Totally satisfied the sweet tooth.   They are on the list to make.

I actually got my visiting teaching done this month...all four of them, but it took all evening.  We visit two older ladies and they love to have a visitor and love to chat.

Work has been crazy, but I have yet made it through another week.  Only 6 more days to the first Utah football game.  Can't wait!  Go Utes!

Summation of the week

The week went by fast, yet...it didn't.  Time at work totally dragged.
  • Riley hurt his right leg again.  He seriously damaged the soft tissue earlier this year and I guess it wasn't quite all better.  Fortunately this time hasn't been as bad as the first time  Unfortunately, he has been much more vocal about his discomfort.  I didn't get any sleep Sunday night.  He isn't supposed to do stairs, but now he runs and hides until we are upstairs and then he follows us.  He is not too keen on being carried.
  • Stayed home from work on Monday - didn't feel so great without any sleep and "other" issues
  • We booked a week of vacation for the Oregon Coast.  Didn't get any sleep because I was so excited.  Kind of like that Disney commercial - "we're too excited to sleep"  Ralph has been loading music onto his MP3 player all week for the long road trip.
  • Got football tickets in the mail.  Again... "We're too excited to sleep"  Go Utes!

  • Found someone to Sub again for primary pianist.  Not an easy task.
  • Made a b-day card for monkey #1 - unfortunately I forgot to snap a photo of it before it got delivered.  It was super cute!
  • Picked cucumbers for pickles - okay, picked them up from Ralph's brother who had extras.
  • Went to the store to find Dill - the produce guy said they only bring it in for special times of the year like Christmas.  Really???? Went to another store, found the dill, they didn't know the cost.  Charged us for 2 packages of fresh corn.  $4 isn't bad for two bags of dillweed.
  • Went to lunch with Wendy and totally stuck to my diet.  Asian lettuce wraps, and beet, goat cheese and arugula salad.
  • Came home from work on Friday to Pizza and a Salad  - totally didn't stick to my diet
  • Completed all required "tasks" for the week
  • Today we tried out 5 guys burgers.  YUMMO!  Note to self - 1 order of fries between the two of us and only order the "little" burger.  We have 1 1/2 orders of fries in our fridge for a Sunday evening snack.  The potatoes were from American Falls, ID.  I love it when the potatoes come from Idaho.  Is there really any other kind?

  • Made Zucchini cake today - it is totally diet food - lots of zucchini in it.
  • Working on sharing time for tomorrow.  "I should read, listen to, and look at things that are pleasing to Heavenly Father."   We are going to play a catgory game.  Should be fun.
  • Watched the Olympics when I could.  The US womens soccer game was amazing.  The athletes this year have been so impressive.  Watched part of the speed walking this morning.  I think the speed walkers bodies are going to have some serious issues when these people get older.  It doesn't look natural.  And they all look like that.
I am looking forward to the closing ceremonies.  Well, after a week of sleep deprivation and rolling around in food coma today I am looking forward to a good nights rest and a great week ahead.

Happy Birthday

I have had several family and friends  B-days pass by that I have not shared my creations with you.  Just in case you were interested here a couple that I actually got pictures of before getting them in the mail.

My older brother got this little number for his July birthday.  I also used this design as a swap card  during convention. It is hard to come up with a masculine card with only Stampin Up product. Flowers, glitter, ribbons and bows have been ruled not acceptable by the male gender.

Tomorrow is my cousin Andrea's birthday.  As long as I can remember, whenever our families got together, we always were hanging out.  We spent many a summer together as well.  Joking, eating, working, exercising, singing at the piano, shopping, teasing our younger brothers, even making each other jealous etc.

She was my very first BFF and will always hold a special place in my heart.  Love you Annie!

Here is the little number I created for her. More on the CAS side, but cute.  All current Stampin UP product.

So today has been quiet.  I spent part of the morning delaying the inevitable of chores and responsibilities with playing with paper, walking Riley and surfing pinterest.  Ralph saved the day by coming home from the garden and a haircut with some brain fodder.   I know you are thinking fresh tomatoes, peppers and cucumbers, and he did come home with that.  I am talking about the Banbury cross donuts, which we didn't need, but it sure helped me to get to the "have to do today" items :)

I did get to some of the responsible things, but not all of them.  Someday I will find a balance...LOL ok probably not, but all work and no play makes Cheryl go Nutso!

Hope your Saturday was productive!

Milkshakes

For Friday night out Ralph and I went to Shivers for a milkshake.  The goto place has always been Iceburg, but the line is always so long.  Shivers moves you through quickly and I think the milkshakes are better than at Iceburg.  We didn't need it, but it tasted good.

I ordered my standard favorite which is
An almond joy shake with fresh raspberries.  You get toasted almonds, coconut, flecks of chocolate and raspberries.  You can see Ralph's in the background, He chose a grasshopper shake.  Ice cream  with creme de mint and chunks of oreo in it.  It is rather tasty.

We stopped at the park and let Riley run around until he did his business and our shakes were eaten.  We then headed home to watch what was left of the olympics for the day and headed to bed.

Not fancy, but fun to hang out and chat.

Generosity of neighbors

Look what landed on our doorstep
A box full of red current branches loaded with berries.  A family in our ward has an over abundance of bushes, so to cut down on production they cut the branches and dropped them off to a willing recipient.
I sat there and watched several Olympic swimming competitions and picked currents.  Right in the comfort of my livingrooom.  Ralph came in about half way and helped me finish.

These are the results of our labors.  It ended up being a good 4 Cups of berries.  We put them in our freezer until we have time to deal with them.  All I could think about was a jellyroll with whipped cream and red current jelly.

We have been trying to keep cool during this incredibly warm summer.  The tomatoes in the garden love it!  Ralph, Riley, and I...not so much.  Our swamp cooler and window air conditioning unit have been working overtime.

Here is a pic of Riley sharing a creamy with me.  Don't you fret now...I ate my share first.Smiley from millan.net
